Avoid the Scams!!
Offshore / Oilfield / Oilrig and Maritime Jobs

Internet offshore oilfield, oilrig and maritime job scams are of two types. Web site scams and email scams. Over the years we have collected quite a bit of information about both of them, information that just might save you a lot of grief.

When consumers are victimized, many let their embarrassment prevent them from taking appropriate action. This is the exact attitude the cons depend on to continue their flim flam operations. "Just ignore them and they will go away" seems to be their business mentality.

One day you might get an official looking e-mail offering you a wonderful job in some far away place. How they got your email address is anyone's guess. But they have it and are writing you with some fantastic offers.

  • Anything out of Nigeria should be treated with a triple dose of skepticism. This is where a lot of the email scams originate from.

  • Any type of offer that is above normal salary ranges for this type of work (like $20,000 to $60,000 a month) is probably a fraud.

  • No legitimate employer will require any type of up front fee from you if they are going to hire you.

Here are a few emails that have been sent to us over the years that turned out to be scams. You can use them to compare to any type of suspicious emails you might get that contain hard to believe offers.

Read and Beware!

After the email scams comes the scam web sites. Professionally laid out and using cutting edge marketing techniques, these sites rob the unwary consumers out of hundreds of thousands of dollars every year with their promise of instant employment.

The biggest oil rig job scam online website is caledonian offshore. They run full page newspaper ads in European and third world countries. When you contact them they will send you sales material that looks quite authentic. Along with the application they will want a $189 processing fee.

If you fall for it, it will be the last hear from them. Trying to get the authorities to do anything has been all but useless. They are located somewhere in Panama.

Various industry organizations as well as thousands of victims have been complaining to the Panamanian authorities for years with no results.
